Installation & Updates
How to Install
- Download the Instagram APK or visit your device's official app store (Google Play, App Store, or AppGallery).
- On Android, if installing the APK, enable 'Install from unknown sources' in Settings > Security.
- Open the downloaded file and tap Install. Wait for the installation to complete.
- Launch Instagram and tap 'Sign Up' to create a new account or 'Log In' if you already have one.
- Verify your email or phone number, set up your profile picture and username, and start following friends.
How to Update
- Open Google Play Store or the App Store on your device.
- Search for 'Instagram' or go to your profile > Manage apps.
- Tap 'Update' if a new version is available.
- For APK users, download the latest APK from a trusted source and install it over the existing app — your data will be preserved.
- Enable auto-updates in your app store settings to always get the newest version.
How to Use
After signing in, complete your profile by adding a photo, bio, and linking your accounts. Tap the plus (+) icon to create a Post, Story, Reel, or Live video. Use the search tab to find people, hashtags, and trending content. Swipe right from the home feed to access the camera for Stories. Tap the heart icon to see likes and activity, and the paper plane icon to open Direct Messages. Customize your privacy under Settings > Privacy — switch to a private account if you want to approve followers.
