Installation & Updates
How to Install
- Open the Google Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS) on your device.
- Search for 'YouTube' in the search bar.
- Tap the official YouTube app published by Google LLC.
- Tap 'Install' (Android) or 'Get' (iOS) and wait for the download to complete.
- Open the app and sign in with your Google account to access subscriptions, history, and personalized content.
- For APK installation: enable 'Install from Unknown Sources' in your device settings, then open the downloaded APK file and tap Install.
How to Update
- Open the Google Play Store or App Store on your device.
- Tap your profile icon in the top-right corner.
- Select 'Manage apps & device' (Android) or 'Available Updates' (iOS).
- Find YouTube in the list and tap 'Update' if a new version is available.
- Alternatively, enable auto-updates so YouTube updates automatically over Wi-Fi.
- For APK users: download the latest APK from a trusted source and install it over the existing version.
How to Use
After installing YouTube, sign in with your Google account to unlock personalized features. Use the Home tab to browse recommended videos, Shorts for quick vertical clips, and Subscriptions to keep up with channels you follow. Tap the search icon to find specific videos, channels, or topics. To save a video for later, tap the three-dot menu and select 'Save to Watch Later' or 'Download' (Premium). Create your own channel by tapping your profile and selecting 'Your channel' — from there you can upload videos, manage playlists, and view analytics. Customize your experience by adjusting playback quality, captions, and notification preferences in Settings.
